Ronald was my lifetime Friend. We had known each other for over 50 years. We were shipmates together in the Navy on board the USS Vancouver where we met at age 18. We also served together as Community Advocates for Civil Rights and Veterans Issues. We would later cross paths at both the National Association for Black Veterans Inc. And the Center for Veterans Issues Ltd. Ronald loved music. His transition has greatly affected me. Ron leaves to mourn his lovely wife Sherle Reese. They loved each other dearly. He will be truly missed. I leave my favorite scriptures for both Ron and Sherle. Revelations 21: 4,5 and Isaiah 41: 10 and 13. Until we see each other again at the Resurrection Man. Straight Forward, Richard Rodgers, Vice President, Retired, Center for Veterans Issues Ltd and National Association for Black Veterans Inc. October 2023

It is extremely difficult to add these words. Ron and I had been close friends for over 50 years. We met in the Navy in 1968 in San Diego California. As we were both from Milwaukee and born the same month and year our friendship was predestined. We stayed friends after our discharge. We both later served as community activist for many years. We would lose contact for several years and later come back together through the Center for Veterans Issues and the National Association for Black Veterans. Both Ron and I were disabled veterans. Ron and I both married two fantastic ladies and stayed close friends until his transition. I was fortunate to visit him regularly at the VA hospital before he passed later at home. I am truly hurt by his transition. My sincere condolences to his fantastic wife Sherle and his entire family. I do believe I will see Ron again according to the Bible Revelations 21:4 and 5. Rest in peace my friend. Richard Rodgers Vice President Retired Center for Veterans Issues Ltd.
